What would Aphrodite do?
The Chakras can be explored via so many healing modalities, but I was gifted a fabulous idea from a fellow Goddess, (Thanks Tamara!) that we could draw inspiration from Goddess mythology. Many of the Goddesses relate to traits we find within the chakras. The suggestion here is to seek advice or inspiration from a Goddess relating to a chakra you feel needs a little love or reawakening. There are many Goddesses that could relate to each chakra, I have selected just one for each but feel free to seek other Goddesses!
There are no rules to seeking power from the Goddesses, perhaps meditate on their strengths to help find your own, select a power or trait they possess to use as a mantra (i.e strength, wisdom, compassion) or think about channeling one of the goddesses in your day to day actions (I.e What would Aphrodite do?)
Goddesses and the Chakras
The Crown Chakra - Sahasrara
Connected to: Wisdom, transcendence, universality
Goddess: Hera, the Queen of Heaven and greek goddess of the air and starry constellations. Hera was considered very powerful. She had power over the skies and could bless the people with clear skies or curse them with storms.
Goddess Wisdom for the Crown Chakra: You are divinely inspired, you are divinely guided, you are at one with the universe.
The Third Eye Chakra - Ajna
Functions: intuition, inspiration
Goddess: Sulis, the great British Celtic healer Goddess. Sulis’ shrine is located in Bath, England, where her power was strongest. Some scholars say she was a “Solar” divinity; her name is a derivative of the Celtic word “Sul” for “sun” and “eye,” and "Suilead", meaning wisdom. She is also a Goddess of healing waters. She was also referred to as “Sulis Minerva” by the Romans. The owl was her sacred bird, and healing and medicine were her themes.

The Throat Chakra - Vishuddha
Function: Personal truth, expression
Goddess: Iris. In Greek mythology, Iris is the personification of the rainbow and messenger of the gods. She is also known as one of the goddesses of the sea and the sky. Iris links the gods to humanity. She travels with the speed of wind from one end of the world to the other.
Goddess Wisdom for the Throat Chakra: Speak with kindness, bravery and truth.
The Heart Chakra - Anahata
Functions: Compassion, love,
Goddess: Aphrodite, Ancient Greek goddess of love and beauty, identified by the Romans with Venus. primarily a goddess of love and fertility and even occasionally presided over marriage.
Goddess Wisdom for the Heart Chakra: Nourish the goddess within you with self care and patience. Show love and compassion to yourself as well as others.
The Solar Plexus Chakra - Manipura
Functions: Will, self, power
Goddess: Sol (or Sunna) the Norse Sun Goddess rides in a horse-drawn solar chariot. It is said that in Norway, the Land of the Midnight Sun, where the sun stays high in the sky for 10 weeks, Sol is emphasising her power.
Goddess Wisdom for the Solar Chakra: You are making progress in the direction of your dreams. Do not be discouraged
The Sacral Chakra - Svadhishthana
Functions: Emotions, creativity, sexuality
Goddess: Ostara is associated in Pagan and european Folklore with the coming of spring and the dawn, and her festival is celebrated at the spring equinox. She brings renewal, rebirth from the death of winter, new beginnings, creation and birth
Goddess Wisdom for the Sacral Chakra: Now is a perfect time to create new ideas, give birth to new projects and be inspired by new adventures.
The Root Chakra - Muladhara
Functions: Safety, grounding
Goddess: Gaea, mother earth. She represents the Earth and was worshipped as the universal mother: creating the Universe and giving birth to both the first race of gods (the Titans in greek myth) and the first humans.
Goddess Wisdom for the Root Chakra: You are grounded, centred and fully present.
